My work is an ongoing exploration of materiality, gesture and process through the use of a wide range of organic, synthetic and waste materials such as clay, plaster, metal, paper, textiles, found objects and text. I am concerned with the intrinsic and transformative properties and qualities of materiality and I am interested in finding both a tension and a balance between the art object, the material and the maker. Gesture is present, as my body is in constant dialogue with the material. I try to find meaning through the continuous push and pull. I work with found every-day objects from the street, where the impact of context and use is visible. If I make an alteration to the object, it is often a discreet, minimal, or respectful intervention. I am currently working on how to evolve this transient, mute poetry, using simple materials, surreal juxtapositions and minimal arrangements.
