The perfectly familiar grip of your small, warm hand in mine. Stroking, wiping, holding, carrying followed by pushes and hugs, strangles and slaps and slams, all encompassing until I pull away in search of time and space. The impression of your touch linger, imprinted on my palms.
I am a visual artist based at Magdalen Road Studios in Oxford, UK. I have a multidisciplinary practice encompassing photography, moving image, sound and drawing.
I am currently making photographic self portraits where I interact with birch trees in local woodland, short films featuring myself alongside the sounds of domestic life and drawings of my face reflected in the mirror.
Through this documentation and the physical nature of making the work I explore my body and how it connects with the world around me; my position between Finland and the UK, between my home and the woods, between my late mother and my children, between my responsibilities and my dreams.
