your skin and mine we’re made of the same you’re me and I’m you
I don’t have many photos of the really early days of becoming a mother. It was hard. When things started to ease up, I started drawing during my daughter’s nap times, to sketch those little moments together I didn’t want to forget. I work in graphite and ink, creating simple line drawings, sometimes sketchy and sometimes a little rough and messy, not too neat (just like motherhood) that show the bond between mother and child. The moments that make everything ok again. I also write poetry that relate to the drawings, that are raw and honest moments of being a mother.
