Vaida Tamoševičiūtė is an artist, lecturer and independent curator working mainly in the field of performance art. Artist is represented by Meno Parkas Gallery since 2008
Collaboration, curation and education are integral parts of her personal creative process.
2011-2018 together with Daina Pupkevičiūtė co-founded and co-curated international performance and live art festival CREATurE Live Art in Kaunas, Lithuania
2018 founded S MOM, a performance art platform dedicated to the exploration of the various states of (un)motherhood, curated since 2021 together with artist Guadalupe Aldrete, implemented in Kaunas, Vienna, Berlin and more to be.
„Everything I do is trying to find my own reality“
Artist explores feelings of shame and guilt, questioning notions of normality, self-harm, gender roles, individual’s place in society and most recent – maternity. Work of art or more accurate – act of art is mostly relationships for her. Searching her own connection with oneself, with people and places around her, embodying specific experiences, trying to translate inside to the outside through the corporeal. Through simple everyday actions, repetitive gestures, states of boredom and vacuity she turns them into personal rituals. By placing an ordinary action or object in a different context, tests the rules and questions established norms.
