Two favorite brushes, found shortly after the return to the studio postpartum. Last used the day my waters broke, they sat forgotten for a few months in a jug of slowly evaporating water while I tended to new life with little sleep until they solidified in the paint residue; a fossil of my former life, of who I was before.
Brittney Wenham is an American abstract painter living and working in Glasgow, Scotland. Her work is concerned with feeling and reaction, bridging the remembered and sensory worlds. Through a process involving physical movement and material experimentation, her paintings are both meditative and somatic. Her recent entry into the world of motherhood has challenged all aspects of her practice and her view of art, and she uses these as stimulus for exploration of this changed landscape.
