Last year I had a miscarriage. I needed to be held, to unite myself with the strength and sensitivity of other women. We wrap ourselves in the materiality of paper, we mold a cocoon around my my body. A cocoon, symbolizing a protected shelter, the process of healing and transformation.

Yasmim Flores (São Paulo, Brazil, 1985) is a visual artist, performer and art educator. She lives and works between Rotterdam, the Netherlands and São Paulo, Brazil.

Yasmim Salim Flores has a background in dance and art education, which she merges into her current artistic practice through interactive performances. Her work is thematically focused on the body relations with the materiality of drawing, painting, music and installations.

She graduated in Visual Arts at Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP, São Paulo, 2008), and also completed a specialization at École Nationale de Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) in Paris in 2009.
