” Women’s rights are being taken away. This country is moving backward faster than we are advancing. In 2019 my daughters and I became the faces of The Women’s March when National Geographic Photographer Lynne Johnson photographed us. The photo went viral on Instagram. The unseen side of my poster was intended to remind individuals to think for themselves, rather than consume the talking points from media coverage and passively relay information without much independent thought. We were all born with a mind that was carefully created as we grew within our mothers, and we have agency. I teach my children to exercise the muscle that is their mind because their momma gave them the gift of their mind and she worked hard on it! They should invest in it. It might seem like a simple request, but it has somehow become harder for many to go against the grain or swim upstream, and be themselves. My motto, and what I teach my children is this: Use The Mind Your Momma Gave Ya!”
