Fit The Mold

Colored pencil on paper

2019

Originally from Utah, USA, I received my BFA in Studio Art from Brigham Young University in 2020. I have since had work included in exhibitions nationally and internationallyp including a solo show at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in Salt Lake City, Utah and a group exhibition at the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art in Gimpo, South Korea. I also recently participated in an artist residency in Detroit, Michigan and had my work included in the New American Paintings, No. 156, West Issue.

My interest as an artist lies in the interconnectedness of people through relationships, communities, and cultures. There has continued to be a paring down of recognizable natural forms in my work, which now have given way to a personal abstract vocabulary of shapes, colors, and forms. With this abstracted vocabulary of hybridized forms, I establish systems and hierarchies that I disrupt to create new ways of navigating the human experience. This process relates to the way in which my awareness evolves as I seek deepened relational intelligence and greater empathic connection.
