THEY WILL KNOW

2021

Sejal Parekh (she/her) is an emerging British Indian artist. Her artistic career, like many, has been non-linear, in part due to motherhood and this has enriched her practice on many levels.

Her multi-disciplinary practice is based in sculpture, often working on site specific installations, video and sound work.

Her work explores rituals, routines and identity within the context of the beauty of the everyday. Recent pieces span across different materialities, inclusive of ingredients, sounds, cultural & childhood objects and textiles. Sejal looks to celebrate and elevate ordinary and deeply personal references.

Often these objects, materials, ingredients and so on have been weaponised to drive inequality and otherness. So in turn her pieces become a resistance and refusal of those attempts, by allowing the viewer to experience an inherent point of view that goes beneath the veneer.
